Could be a silly question.....

Post by Enginewidow » Sun Aug 31, 2014 7:33 pm

Hi all, ok the restoration has begun, I brought my second Wolseley 2 years ago and its been stood up doing nothing for all that time. I had a look at it yesterday and it has very poor compression and have been told that would most likely be the valves, luckily I have some new ones here. When I checked the state of the oil it was very creamy so I am hoping its just where its been sat up for so long rather than head gasket. Anyway my question is I drained of the oil (well, water mainly) yesterday but how can I make sure I have it all out? I don't want to find the engine is all sorted but have a load of sludge having around somewhere or would that not be possible?
Thanks in advance

Hi Julie. Not a silly question. I would run a number of oil changes through the engine to clean the gunk out. Much quicker than a full dismantle.
